APPLY FIRST AID: HLTFA 301B

This course can be completed as either a Full two-day course, or a Self-paced one-day course where the trainees complete a workbook from a manual issued prior to training. This covers some of the theory content of the course allowing the instructor to concentrate on the practical aspects of the course during the face-to-face delivery.

The course covers the Principles of First Aid, Legal issues in First Aid, examining a casualty, the chain of survival, basic life support flow chart, emergency action plan, managing the unconscious casualty, choking airway management, rescue breathing, chest compressions, first aid hygiene, trauma management and medical emergencies.

Prerequisites: Applicants must be 14 years plus.

Courses may be conducted in-house or alternative venues can be arranged.

PERFORM CPR: HLTCPR 201A

Perform CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) is conducted in conjunction with Apply First Aid or can be delivered as a separate module requiring 2 hours of class time.

The course covers the Principles of First Aid, Legal issues in First Aid, examining a casualty, the chain of survival, basic life support flow chart, emergency action plan, managing the unconscious casualty, airway management, rescue breathing, first aid hygiene & chest compressions (Adult, Child and Infant). This course uses CPR manikins to develop the necessary skills to provide primary care to an unconscious casualty until professional help arrives.

Prerequisites: Applicants must be 14 years plus.

APPLY ADVANCED RESUCITATION TECHNIQUES: HLTFA 404A

This course develops the skills to provide oxygen resuscitation to an unconscious non-breathing casualty or provide oxygen therapy to a casualty experiencing breathing difficulties. The course also develops the skills to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on a casualty that has suffered Cardiac Arrest. Class time of 4 hours including a participant workbook completed prior to face-to-face delivery.

The course covers the Principles of:

Oxygen Administration, including the respiratory system, oxygen administration, oxygen therapy, oxygen resuscitation, care in the use of oxygen, oxygen for medical use, care and storage of oxygen cylinders and the use of suction equipment.

Automated External Defibrillation, including the cardiovascular system, the chain of survival, the procedure for administration of an AED, defibrillation equipment and maintenance.

Prerequisites: Applicants must be 14 years plus and hold current Apply First Aid, Provide Basic Emergency Life Support or CPR certification.

AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATION: 30741QLD

This Queensland Ambulance Service course is Nationally recognised and fully accredited and oeren through Partnership with First Aid Action (RTO No: 31668).

The course includes:

Perform CPR: Legal issues, communicable diseases, emergency action plan, chain of survival, basic flow support.

Automated External Defibrillation: Introduction to defibrillation, how an AED works, care & maintenance od an AED, criteria for an AED, safety when using an AED, AED operation, post-defibrillation casualty care, communicating details of the incident, safe manual handling, evaluation of the incident.

Prerequisites: Applicants must be 14 years plus.

Trainees receive a manual from the Queensland Ambulance Service.

Course duration: approx. 4 hours - may be conducted in-house or alternative venues can be arranged.

LOW VOLTAGE SWITCHBOARD RESCUE

This is a non-accredited 3 hour course that develops the skills and awareness to perform a safe rescue of a casualty who has received an electric shock or other injury whilst working on a Low Voltage Switchboard. The course includes, Perform CPR, the use of a Low Voltage Rescue Kit, risk assessment, principles and techniques of a rescue, gas inhalation treatment, burns and bleeding management.

Prerequisites:

Applicants must be 14years plus.
